Rotary Manningham engaged PLAN International to conduct water assessments in three communities in Hatu Balico, Ainaro Municipality Timor Leste.
Over 1,200 village people will benefit from this project after the proposed WASH upgrade is completed in approximately September 2019, for the 3 selected villages.

Women and girls, who predominantly collect water for family households, will be able to save time for other livelihood pursuits and be able to focus more on school respectively. Community water management group (GMF) training in planning, operation, maintenance will be rolled out in conjunction with the construction activities, with an emphasis on women taking on GMF leadership positions. Increasing community access to water services in Hatu Balico complements Plan’s ongoing sanitation and hygiene project being implemented with the Municipal Government towards achieving open defecation free status for Ainaro Municipality
